The new Kawasaki Versys proved in the MCN test of 22 November that all-rounders can be fun. In this multi-bike test, the 650cc parallel twin was compared against the V-Strom, Multistrada and Fazer. “If you want an all-rounder that’s easy to ride, then the versatile Versys ticks all the boxes”, said MCN’s road tester.
MCN tested the Versys across the range of abilities, from touring to commuting and back lane scratching taking into consideration practicality, user friendliness and appearance.
On commuting and urban riding they said: “The Versys makes town riding a barrel of laughs”
And for long distance riding and touring: “The Versys will happily sit at 100mph all day”
The conclusion of the test said: “If you want an all-rounder that’s easy to ride, then, as the name suggests, the versatile Versys ticks all the boxes. If you have specific demands, you may prefer one of the other bikes, but as an all-rounder the Versys takes the honours. It’s easy to ride, fun at low speeds, handles well, has the strongest engine and is simply the best overall package.”
